Let Freedom Ring!
Freedom.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., didn’t just dream about it. He led an international movement to secure it. And he gave his life in pursuit of it.

“Freedom is never given voluntarily by the oppressor; it must be demanded by the oppressed,” he said.

Importantly, freedom cannot free itself. It takes all of us in the beloved community to achieve it.

Join us virtually on Monday, January 17, from 9:00-10:00 AM for “Let Freedom Ring,” a lively conversation to celebrate Dr. King’s life and legacy and to recommit ourselves to the ongoing pursuit of freedom.

The conversation will feature a video presentation with special guest Fred D. Gray, the legendary attorney who represented Dr. King during the Civil Rights Movement, along with a conversation between Ryan P. Haygood and Andrea McChristian, the New Jersey Institute for Social Justice's President & CEO and Law & Policy Director, respectively.

The conversation will include a look at what it means to continue the fight for freedom in today's world, including here in New Jersey.

The Institute is proud to host this event in partnership with the Social Impact & Community Investment practice at RWJBarnabas Health.

In addition to Dr. King, Mr. Gray, now 91, represented Claudette Colvin, Rosa Parks and the victims of the Tuskegee medical experiments.
